 Kokke's heritage

Ruud-Jan Kokke studied at the Social Academy in Enschede and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem.

He is considered a designer in the tradition of Gerrit Rietveld; like Rietveld, Kokke also handcrafted his first chairs. In 1986, he established his own label, Ruud-Jan Kokke Product & Design. Since then, his furniture has been produced by companies such as Spoinq, Metaform, Spectrum Design Eindhoven, Kembo, Auping, and Ahrend.

His initial interior designs date back to the early nineties. In close collaboration with his partner Petra Hartman, he also designs interiors for schools.
