Lazuli Lamp - 2000

‘The Leerdam Glass Museum occasionally invited artists and designers to spend a few days working with a master glass- blower. The challenge with a blob of glass is that it already looks beautiful before you’ve done any- thing with it. I designed a series of lamps, using not only blowing and shaping as techniques but also cutting, grinding, and pol- ishing. This gives the glass mul- tiple dimensions and enhances

its beauty.’
